2nd Annual Food and Toy Drive…

As of Friday the 17th just prior to this event’s kick off, a quick trip into the Trek Store of Santa Rosa, showed us that we had basically NO FOOD or TOYS yet dropped off for us to deliver! Wringing of hands, gnashing of teeth, foreheads against a wall somewhere, and a desperate callout to our cycling family in Sonoma County; and we more than met the need! Our Friends from Team Colavita/Baci and The Trek Store came together to help us gather contributors to meet our Goals of bountiful food for the Redwood Gospel Mission! All said we had delivered more than 200 lbs of food for the Needy this Holiday season…very very cool! Now it was time for the Toys!!! Back to the Trek Store to load up on toys and delivery them to the Santa Rosa Firefighters for their Toys For Kids program. Bret Gave of the Trek Store had gone over to the Toy Works and asked them for donations which they gratiously handed over to him! Thank you Bret and the Toy Works!! Be sure to check out the full report along with more photos featuring our effort to help those less fortunate this holiday season.

Monkey Cross Finals…

The Red Peloton had great showing for the final cross race to wrap up the 2010 cycling season. Conditions were utterly brutal with hub deep pig slop mud which made for much running and little pedaling. The Monkey Cross final was held at City of Santa Rosa’s Galvin Park.

Scott Orton – 1st Mens C

Dan Boyle – 1st Mens B 35+

Royce Fraley – 2nd Mens B 45+ and 2nd for the series

Shannon Mitchel – 2nd Womens C

Kashy Ghazzagh – 4th for the day, Mens C and Won the series

2nd Annual Holiday Toy & Food Drive

We are pleased to announce our upcoming event as well as ask for your participation either as a rider alongside us, or as someone we can count on to donate Toys and Food at our drop off location!

Without further ado…here are the details:

The Red Peloton’s 2nd annual Holiday Toy and Food Ride is here!

What: Join the Red Peloton as we ride our bikes laden with food and toys for the needy this holiday season.

We will be riding with our loads of food to the Redwood Gospel Mission to drop off for their needs and needy. Then we will continue to ride over to the downtown fire station and drop off the toys for their charity “Toys for Kids” toy drive.

How: Come ready to ride, with backpacks on, trailers hitched, panniers fastened. All ready to carry toys and food to our community centers for delivery. Don’t forget to attach your Santa hat to your helmets! And of course BRING food and toys!!!!

Even if you cannot come out, please feel free to drop off both non-perishable food and toys galore at the Trek Store for us to pack up and deliver. Last year we had 150-200 lbs of food and toys thanks to you all!! Please help us out again even if you cannot join us for the ride portion!!!

When: Dec 19 at 3:00 pm

Where: Drop off and Meeting at The Trek Store Santa Rosa

512 Mendocino Ave.
Santa Rosa, CA 95401

To sweeten the deal we are throwing in a post ride party! At 5:30 pm after the Toy/Food ride (and after freshening up of course), we will be heading over to D’Argenzio Winery for a post ride evening of food and wine. They will be providing yummy pizzas and a flight of wine for $12 per person (you can pay D’Argenzio at the door)! Come join us at the D’Argenzio tasting room at:
