SUMMARY:Omloop Het Windsor 2026
DESCRIPTION:A group training in Windsor! Presented by Bryan Larsen. \nOmloop Het Windsor\, a race-pace group training ride with elite cyclists\, has been updated for 2026. \nMeet at Sutter Hospital at Old Redwood Hwy and Mark West Springs in North Santa Rosa. \nFollow Omloop Het Windsor on Instagram for more updates! \nThe following is from Bryan Larsen\, Organizer: \nThis year we have a few updates and improvements from the 2025 version. \nAt the core\, the ride will remain the same. This is not a formal race and safety is paramount above all else. If you see a hazard or danger\, make the call and say something. This is a ride for everyone so make sure you all look out for each other\, work together\, and learn from each other. There will be 2 circuits of intensity and then heading towards Eastside before turning right on on Muur van Windsor River and finishing at the Windsor town limits sign after the crest. \nThis ride has been “won” solo\, in small group sprints\, and larger group sprints. And one thing is constant in all those scenarios\, it was brutal and such a great workout! \nNow for the updates… \nUpdate #1: Once a month in 2026.\nWhile our attendance was good in 2025. It was sporadic and so we decided to move this to a 1x/month ride to maximize attendance. A little scarcity of such a high powered and fast ride should hopefully help us return to the larger group sizes. And trust me\, when you’re shattered\, you’re going to want someone with you to help you limp home! There will be 6 rides in 2026 (April – Sept). \nUpdate #2: Wednesday Nights at 6pm in 2026.\nThis year\, the ride will be held on the first Wednesday of every month at 6pm. (Planned dates are: April 1\, May 6\, June 3\, July 1\, Aug 5\, & Sept 2). \nNote: For April and Sept\, it is HIGHLY recommended to bring bright lights and visible clothing for those riding back towards Santa Rosa after the ride. Sunset is at 7:35 pm on April 1st and so you’ll be rolling back around then and during civil twilight hours. Let’s make sure we’re all seen and safe 🙂 \nUpdate #3: Sutter On Mark West Meeting point\nThis year\, we’ll meet at Sutter (same place as the Sugarland meeting point). So for those coming from Santa Rosa\, you won’t be on your own all the way to the ride start. We’ll ride west on river road before zig zagging on Laughlin towards Slusser and when safe\, make the left turn onto Mark West Station Road. \nSutter North East Parking Lot\, starting location for Sugarland\, Sutter Sunday and other Sonoma County bike rides. \nUpdate #4: No Neutral Lap\nLast year\, we started in downtown Windsor and did 1 warmup lap. Since we’re starting at Sutter\, our neutral rollout will replace the 1 easy lap we did last year. It’s game on once we all safely turn right on Starr road the first time. We’ll do 2 laps before continuing straight on Mark West Station towards the Eastside leg of the course and the finale up the Muur van Windsor River. For those who struggle with counting to 2\, an easy way to remember is that once the racing starts\, you’ll only turn right on Starr Rd one more time. \nUpdate #5: Weather Cancels/postpones\nDue to the slightly more technical nature of this course and smaller roads\, steady/heavy rain will cancel/postpone. I know that many of our other rides are rain or shine but for the safety of everyone involved we will announce if a ride is cancelled by 10AM the day of the ride (at the latest). \nIf weather allows\, the ride will be postponed 1 day at most. So in the event that Wednesday weather is bad but Thursday looks good. We’ll roll on Thursday evening instead. This will be communicated in any cancellation or postponement email. I’ll be using wunderground’s forecast for those who want to follow along: https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/ca/windsor/38.55\,-122.81. \nLooking forward to seeing everyone out there and please forward to anyone who is local or may be interested in a great workout!
